Yale ruins Columbia's postseason hopes with 75-71 win

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) Blake Reynolds scored 16 points and passed out six assists and Alex Copeland's layup off his steal sent Yale past Columbia 75-71 on Saturday night to eliminate the Lions from the Ivy League's first-ever postseason tournament.

Penn (6-8) beat No. 2 seed Harvard 75-72 just minutes later and took the fourth and final berth of the tournament and will play Ivy champion Princeton. Yale (17-10, 9-5) is the No. 3 seed and will play No. 2 seed Harvard.

Copeland's layup broke a 71-all tie with 78 seconds remaining. Then, with six seconds left, Anthony Dallier came up with a block on Nate Hickman's layup attempt. Miye Oni added two free throws to end it. Blake Reynolds scored 16 points, Copeland 13 and Trey Phills 11.
