Fowler resigns as Furman football coach

(STATS) - A staple of the program for nearly decades, Bruce Fowler resigned as Furman's football coach after six seasons Friday.

The Paladins went 3-8 this season and were 27-43 under Fowler. Included was a 20-26 record in the Southern Conference.

Fowler has spent 28 seasons in the program as a player, assistant coach and head coach. He was an assistant on Furman's 1988 FCS championship team and its 2001 national runner-up squad.
