Purdue takes week off to focus on improving

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) Purdue's first bye week came at a good time and the Boilermakers took full advantage of the time off to improve and relax.

"I thought we needed to get fresh again," Purdue coach Darrell Hazell said. "I thought we needed to rest our bodies, to clear our minds a little bit and take a step back and kind of evaluate where we are as a football team, and where you are as an individual."

After having time to evaluate, Hazell sees a team that continues to get better. The Boilermakers waited eight weeks for its first of two bye weeks and look to show they've found some solutions to their weaknesses Saturday at No. 17 Nebraska.
