Swansea City vs. Chelsea
Minute Commentary
90' FT: SWANSEA 1 CHELSEA 1
Chelsea miss the chance to go back to the top of the table above Manchester United as a late equaliser by Pablo Hernandez snatches a point for Swansea. The Spaniard beat Petr Cech with a crisp shot from the edge of the area with only three minutes left and Chelsea looking on course for the points. The Blues had taken the lead just after the hour through Victor Moses, the former Wigan man getting his head to a Gary Cahill header from a corner to redirect the ball into the net via a post. There was not a great deal between the two sides in the first half, with the best opening falling to the visitors, but Fernando Torres seeing his header booted off the line by Leon Britton. Chelsea, though, went up the gears in the second half and carried the greater threat, with Eden Hazard forcing Gerhard Tremmel into a fine save before the opener arrived. You have to give the Swans credit, though, for the way they fought back in the last ten minutes of the match and for that they probably deserved their point.
90' SWANSEA BOOKING
Itay Shechter is cautioned for fouling Torres.
90' PUSHING FOR A WINNER
Swansea almost grab the winner. Graham's shot deflects off Cahill and Chelsea are relieved it goes wide of the post.
88' MORE ON THAT GOAL
It's a quality goal from Juan Mata's former Valencia team-mate Hernandez. A slick passing move ended with the midfielder hitting a sweetly-struck shot past Cech from the edge of the box.
87' GOAL: SWANSEA 1 CHELSEA 1
Pablo Hernandez levels with a superb goal for Swansea.
83' SWANSEA BOOKING
De Guzman is cautioned for kicking the ball away in frustration after being adjudged to have fouled Hazard.
81' SUBSTITUTIONS
Itay Shechter replaces Michu for Swansea. Chelsea make a change soon after, Ryan Bertrand taking the place of Oscar.
79' WEATHER REPORT
It is absolutely hammering down at the Liberty Stadium at the moment and the rain is making a deafening sound as it comes down on the roof of the main stand.
76' DYER DENIED BY CECH
Dyer curls a shot for goal, but Cech gets back and manages tips the ball over the crossbar.
75' STURRIDGE LOOKING LIVELY
Sturridge is immediately in the thick of the action, but Torres is on a different wavelength and fails to get on the end of the through-ball.
73' CHELSEA SUBSTITUTION
Goalscorer Victor Moses makes way for Daniel Sturridge.
72' CECH WELL PLACED
Jonathan De Guzman shoots for goal, but Petr Cech is well placed and makes a comfortable save, knocking the ball down in front of him.
71' NOT A GOOD MONTH
Swansea failed to win any of their Premier League matches in November last season. It does not appear this time round that things are going to start any better.
69' HAZARD DRIVE BLOCKED
Oscar and Hazard swap passes before the Belgian strikes for goal. The shot rebounds off Williams and away to safety.
66' SWANSEA SUBSTITUTIONS
Swansea make a double switch. Graham and Dyer come on for Routledge and Britton.
65' SECOND GOAL FOR MOSES
That's the second goal Victor Moses has scored for Chelsea since his £9million move from Wigan in the summer.
62' MORE ON THAT GOAL
The opener came from a Chelsea corner. Gary Cahill got in a powerful goalbound header and Victor Moses redirected it into the net off the post.
61' GOAL: SWANSEA 0 CHELSEA 1
Victor Moses gives Chelsea the lead.
60' GREAT SAVE FROM TREMMEL
Chelsea win a free-kick 25 yards from goal and Tremmel has to be at his best to make a sensational save to deny Hazard.
59' BRAVE SAVE FROM CECH
Michu looks to get on the end off a pass from Rangel, but Cech is quickly off his line to smother the ball at the Spaniard's feet.
57' REINFORCEMENTS NEEDED
It wouldn't be a surprise if Roberto Di Matteo looked to Daniel Sturridge off the Chelsea bench for a little bit of inspiration.
54' GOOD TACKLE FROM COLE
Swansea are looking good going forward, Pablo Hernandez slips a ball through to Michu and it takes a well-timed tackle from Ashley Cole to avert the danger.
51' TOO HIGH FROM MOSES
Fernando Torres delivers a cross to the far post, but it is slightly behind Moses and in trying to adjust the former Wigan man can only head over the crossbar.
50' HAZARD SHOT SAVED
Chelsea try to break quickly again. Hazard carries the ball across the goal and his shot is saved at his near-post by Tremmel.
47' CHELSEA SUBSTITUTION
Chelsea have made a change at the break, with Ramires replacing Romeu, who has been somewhat off the pace today.
46' HERE WE GO AGAIN
Swansea get the second half under way.
45' HT: SWANSEA 0 CHELSEA 0
It's goalless at the break in a game that has been easy on the eye but lacking in clear-cut chances. Chelsea started brightly and Fernando Torres saw one early shot blocked by Garry Monk and another flicked header cleared off the line by Leon Britton. The Swans have given a good account of themselves and Michu really should have done better with a mis-hit volley when well placed in front of goal. Chelsea, though, might feel they should have had a penalty just before the interval after what appeared to be a mistimed tackle by Ashley Williams. The visitors will need to be brighter than this if they are to grab the victory they need to go back above Manchester United at the top of the table.
44' WILLIAMS TO THE RESCUE
Chelsea break swiftly from their own half, but Ashley Williams saves the day with a well-timed tackle on Fernando Torres.
40' CHELSEA BOOKING
Azpilicueta is late on the scene in attempting to tackle Ben Davies and is shown the yellow card for clattering the Swansea man.
39' PENALTY CLAIMS
Chelsea can feel a little hard done by as Ashley Williams appears to catch Hazard instead of the ball in the Swans box. It could easily have been a penalty, but Mr Friend decides to award a goal-kick instead.
37' SWANSEA BOOKING
Leon Britton is shown the yellow card for a foul on John Obi Mikel.
33' TICKING OFF FOR CAHILL
Referee Friend gives Gary Cahill a stiff talking-to after he fells Jonathan De Guzman. The next foul challenge and the former Bolton defender will be in the book.
30' HANDBALL CLAIMS
The crowd bay for a penalty for handball after Ashley Cole blocks a cross from Pablo Hernandez, but referee Kevin Friend is rightly not interested.
29' FIRST GOAL VITAL
Swansea be warned: Chelsea have won all six league games in which they have taken the lead this season.
26' TAME HEADER BY TORRES
Moses leads a Chelsea raid, collecting a pass from Torres and then trying to tee up the Chelsea front man. The header from Torres is on target, but lacking pace and again it's easy for Tremmel.
25' WAYWARD CROSS BY AZPILICUETA
Cesar Azpilicueta delivers a cross from the right, but it's poorly directed and Gerhard Tremmel gathers easily.
22' MISSING MATA
Chelsea have not really got going so far today, they are obviously missing Juan Mata, who has been their outstanding player this season.
19' HAZARD WARNING
Hazard pounces on a poor clearance from Williams, but lashes his shot from the edge of the area well wide of the target.
17' IN SAFE HANDS
Gerhard Tremmel is making just his second start today in the Swansea goal. The 34-year-old German has plenty of experience, though.
15' MICHU VOLLEYS WIDE
Michu has a chance to net his seventh of the season in the league, but he makes a real mess of an attempted volley.
13' OFF THE LINE
Chelsea win their first corner of the match. Torres wins the near-post header and Ivanovic would have had the opener stealing in at the back post had it not been for an important intervention from Leon Britton, who cleared the ball off the line.
12' ALMOST AN OPENING
Jonathan De Guzman plays a promising ball in the direction of Pablo Hernandez, but the alert Gary Cahill snuffs out the danger.
11' PLAYING CATCH-UP
Chelsea need a win to go back to the top of the table, Manchester United having beaten Arsenal 2-1 at Old Trafford in the lunchtime kick-off.
9' DANGER FROM OUT WIDE
Ben Davies delivers a fierce cross from the right when he really could have carried the ball into the box and caused Chelsea more problems.
7' SWANS CORNER
Back come Swansea. Pablo Hernandez gets the wrong side of Romeu and the home side have a corner. De Guzman delivers but Torres wins a crucial header on the edge of the six-yard box to clear.
6' BLUES FREE-KICK
Britton fells Oscar on the edge of the Swansea area and Chelsea have a free-kick in a dangerous position. Fortunately for Swansea, there is no Juan Mata today and Oscar curls a shot into the wall.
4' IVANOVIC ALERT TO THE DANGER
Pablo Hernandez plays an excellent one-two with Rangel, but Branislav Ivanovic is across to make an important tackle.
2' HOW THEY LINE UP
Swansea are playing Ki and Britton in holding midfield roles, with Jonathan de Guzman in the hole just behind the lone central striker of Michu.
1' HERE WE GO
Chelsea kick off the game, attacking the goal to our right.
0' TEAM NEWS
Swansea make two changes, with Gerhard Tremmel replacing the injured Michel Vorm in goal and Garry Monk coming into central defence for Chico, who has failed a fitness test. Chelsea are without the injured David Luiz and Juan Mata, with their places going to Cesar Azpilicueta and Victor Moses respectively. The visitors' other change is a tactical one, with Romeu replacing Ramires as one of the holding midfielders.

0' PREVIEW
It has been another tumultuous week off the field for Chelsea, but on it Roberto di Matteo's men need to bounce back from their first league defeat of the season as they travel to Swansea City on Saturday. There was much to praise about the Blues' performance against Manchester United last weekend, but they came out on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline thanks to some poor defending and to a couple of crucial decisions by the match officials that did not go their way. Although the visitors go in to today's game as firm favourites, a trip to South Wales is never an away banker. Swansea have certainly struggled in recent weeks after a wonderful start to the season under new manager Michael Laudrup, and there have been rumours of dressing room unrest. But they have continued the passing style that earned them so many plaudits last term and have added more of a cutting edge. The Swans went to Liverpool in midweek and came away with a hugely impressive victory over former boss Brendan Rodgers in the Capital One Cup. It will have given everyone at the club a huge lift, the only question is how much will it have taken out of the handful of influential players who turned out that night. Mind you, Chelsea are in the same boat, Roberto Di Matteo having been forced to call on some of his big guns in midweek to see off Manchester United in the same competition. Today's game kicks off at 1500GMT, so join us around 30 minutes beforehand when we should have the confirmed team news, which will be followed by a match commentary.
0' PLAYERS TO WATCH
Michu has been instrumental in Swansea's solid start to the season and looks like one of the bargain buys of the summer having scored seven goals in 11 appearances since arriving from Rayo Vallecano for just £2.5 million. The Spaniard is a booking away from suspension but will still play, despite a yellow card meaning he would miss the upcoming match against struggling Southampton. Chelsea's attacking midfield triumvirate of Juan Mata, Oscar and Eden Hazard have been a joy to watch this season and have transformed the look of the side. But with Mata carrying an injury and unlikely to play, the other two are going to have to carry a greater burden and hope that Fernando Torres in attack has one of those world-beating days that have become fewer and fewer in recent years.
0' HEAD TO HEAD
Chelsea have the better head-to-head record in league meetings between the sides with eight wins to five by Swansea and seven games being drawn. At the Liberty Stadium and its predecessors, Swansea have four wins to two by Chelsea, with a further four meetings ending up all square. The last time these sides met was on this ground in January when they drew 1-1. Scott Sinclair gave the Swans a 39th-minute lead, but Ashley Williams put through his own goal in the final minute as ten-man Chelsea snatched a point, Ashley Cole having been dismissed four minutes before the end for two bookable offences. Before last season's first meeting at Stamford Bridge in September, these two clubs had not met in the best part of 18 years in any competition. Chelsea won that match 4-1 helped by two goals from Ramires, but the game is best remembered for Fernando Torres being sent off six minutes before half-time by referee Mike Dean for violent conduct.
0' FORM GUIDE
Before this latest round of matches Swansea are in 11th place, with 11 points from nine games. They won their first two games of the season, scoring eight times and keeping two clean sheets. Since then, though, it's been more of a struggle, with the win at home to Wigan a fortnight ago the only victory they have managed since. Chelsea started the weekend top of the table, with 22 points from nine games, one clear of Manchester United. They lost to United last weekend; prior to that their lone blemish in the Premier League had been a goalless draw at Queens Park Rangers.
0' EARLY TEAM NEWS
Swansea defender Chico Flores will have a fitness test before the match after suffering a dead leg in the Capital One Cup victory at Liverpool. Garry Monk or Alan Tate will step in if the Spaniard is unable to play. Ashley Williams is expected to start despite an ankle problem but Michel Vorm (groin), Neil Taylor (broken ankle) and Kyle Bartley (thigh) are all out. Chelsea have serious doubts over Juan Mata (hamstring) and David Luiz (ankle), who were both injured in Wednesday night's Capital One Cup victory over Manchester United. Ashley Cole returns from an ankle knock and Fernando Torres and Branislav Ivanovic are back from suspension. Frank Lampard (calf) is still out and John Terry serves the last of his four-match ban for racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand.
0' MAN IN THE MIDDLE
Taking charge of today's game is Kevin Friend, whose first Premier League appointment came in August 2009 when he refereed the match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham at Molineux. The Leicestershire whistleblower produced red cards in each of his first two appointments of the season, to Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic in the Community Shield against Manchester City at Wembley, and to Stoke's Dean Whitehead at Reading. Overall, he has cautioned 15 players in four Premier League outings before today. Friend took charge of that exceptional Capital One Cup tie between Reading and Arsenal at the Madejski Stadium in midweek. His assistants today are Charles Breakspear and Mark Scholes, while Jon Moss is the fourth official.
