West Ham United vs. West Bromwich Albion
Minute Commentary
90' FT: WEST HAM 3 WEST BROM 3
Six goals are shared and you feel West Brom will feel happier with a point despite having led at the interval. Joe Cole gave the Hammers an early lead but two well-taken goals in six minutes from Nicolas Anelka put the visitors on top. The Hammers hit back midway through the second half with two quickfire goals of their own, first through substitute Modibo Maiga and then Kevin Nolan. But West Brom were only behind for a minute, Saido Berahino's angled drive going in off a post. Berahino might have won it for the Baggies, but his wonderful curling free-kick thudded against the upright with Jussi Jaaskelainen well beaten.
90' FLAG DENIES VISITORS
West Brom go close to snatching a winner, but the flag is up for offside against Anelka.
90' WEST BROM BOOKING
We will have four minutes of added time. Jonas Olsson is booked as West Brom look to waste a few seconds.
89' NOLAN HEADS WIDE
Demel crosses from the right, but Nolan's header goes wide of the target.
88' QUIZ ANSWER
Earlier we asked you the other five Premier League clubs Nicolas Anelka had scored for. The answer, in order: Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Bolton and Chelsea.
87' WEST BROM SUBSTITUTION
Stephane Sessegnon replaces Saido Berahino for West Brom.
86' LUCKY ESCAPE
Mulumbu is lucky not to receive a yellow card for a bodycheck on Noble.
84' ALERT GOALKEEPING
West Brom go close again, but Jaaskelainen is quickly off his line to save at the feet of Berahino.
83' WEST HAM SUBSTITUTION
West Ham's final switch sees Jack Collison replace Joe Cole.
82' BACK OFF THE POST
Saido Berahino curls a wonderful free-kick that comes back off the post with Jaaskelainen rooted to the spot.
81' WEST HAM BOOKING
A nasty tackle by Diame on Brunt earns him a yellow card and gives West Brom a shooting opportunity.
79' THRILLING GAME
None of the 34,946 people in attendance today can complain about the entertainment on offer.
78' WEST BROM SUBSTITUTION
Claudio Yacob replaces Morrison for West Brom.
76' SLOW TO REACT
Diame is caught snoozing as Brunt sneaks in front of him to collect a loose ball. The snap-shot from a narrow angle is beaten down by Jaaskelainen.
74' FEEBLE EFFORT
Jones works his way into a promising position down the right, but his feeble shot has all the venom of a back pass and that's not going to trouble Jaaskelainen.
71' THAT HURT
Mulumbu is down after a nasty challenge by Maiga, who is very lucky not to receive a card from Mr Dean.
70' GOAL DETAILS
The visitors level in an instant. Berahino ghosted past Demel and flashed a shot across Jaaskelainen and in off the far post. What a match!
69' GOAL: WEST HAM 3 WEST HAM 3
Saido Berahino levels for West Brom. Wow!
68' WEST BROM SUBSTITUTION
Amalfitano replaces Lugano as West Brom look to get back into the game.
68' GOAL DETAILS
This game turns on its head again. Noble got clear down the inside-right channel and stood up a cross to the back post. Maiga headed it down and Nolan hooked the ball home from close range.
67' GOAL: WEST HAM 3 WEST BROM 2
Kevin Nolan puts West Ham in front!
66' GOAL DETAILS
Ben Foster turns from hero to villain inside a minute. He should have stopped Maiga's bouncing shot from the right edge of the box, but totally missed it after trying to claw the effort away.
65' GOAL: WEST HAM 2 WEST BROM 2
Modibo Maiga levels for West Ham.
64' BRILLIANT SAVE
West Ham are almost level. Maiga holds up the ball superbly before cutting in on to his left foot and letting fly with a shot that is heading towards the top corner until Foster makes a flying save.
62' SHOT BLOCKED
Anelka raids forward down the centre. His fierce shot from outside the box is bravely blocked by O'Brien.
61' IT'S QUIZ TIME
Nicolas Anelka has now scored goals for six different Premier League clubs. Name the previous five in order, from first to last. Answer in a few minutes.
58' WEST HAM BOOKING
A lunge by Nolan on Brunt earns the West Ham captain a yellow card.
55' GREAT CHANCE WASTED
Jarvis draws a foul tackle from Morrison on the edge of the D and West Ham have a free-kick from a threatening position. Noble plays it sideways and Joe Cole's curler is well wide of the upright.
54' ONLY JUST WIDE
West Brom are looking for a third to kill off this game and a fierce strike from Berahino flashes across the face of goal.
52' PRESSURE BUILDING
Rat tries a low shot from distance, but Foster is right behind that one and makes a routine stop. Noble then volleys well wide.
49' WEST BROM BOOKING
A high challenge from Mulumbu on Jarvis earns him the yellow card.
48' CLOSE TO A THIRD
Anelka is not far away from his hat-trick. Jones beats Rat down the right and his low cross is met by the Baggies frontman, whose low shot is kept out by Jaaskelainen.
47' CHANGE FOR WEST HAM
West Ham have made a change at the break. Modibo Maiga has replaced Carlton Cole.
46' HERE WE GO AGAIN
West Ham get the second half under way.
45' HT: WEST HAM 1 WEST BROM 2
Two goals in six minutes from Nicolas Anelka have turned this game on its head. The former France striker collected a through ball from Chris Brunt for his first on 40 minutes and then stabbed home a loose ball in stoppage time for his second after an initial effort had been cleared off the line. The Hammers had been given the perfect start on five minutes with a fine strike from Joe Cole. The former England midfielder played a neat one-two with Kevin Nolan before firing a low shot that beat Ben Foster at his near post. The home side had looked the more threatening until that double body-blow, asking most of the questions and also hitting the outside of a post through substitute Guy Demel.
45' GOAL DETAILS
It's a disaster for the home side. Jonas Olsson managed to bundle an effort goalwards after the award of a contentious corner. Carlton Cole could only keep the ball out with his thigh and Anelka was on hand to stab the rebound home.
45' GOAL: WEST HAM 1 WEST BROM 2
Nicolas Anelka scores again for West Brom!
43' WEST HAM BOOKING
Carlton Cole is booked for a late tackle on Olsson.
41' GOAL DETAILS
It's a goal out of nothing for the visitors. Brunt played a nice pass into the path of the Frenchman, who got goal side of O'Brien. He sauntered on before shooting into the corner, giving Jaaskelainen no chance.
40' GOAL: WEST HAM 1 WEST BROM 1
Nicolas Anelka levels for West Brom.
39' SHOT-SHY BAGGIES
Mulumbu delivers a glorious pass into the path of Brunt, who turns down the opportunity of a first-time shot and instead ends up giving the ball away.
36' FREE-KICK JUST WIDE
Nolan is pulled back and Noble lines up a free-kick from 25 yards. The right-footed effort clears the wall, but swerves wide of the left-hand post.
32' DEMEL HITS THE WOODWORK
West Ham threaten again. Carlton Cole heads down a centre from Joe Cole and Demel swivels and shoots right-footed against the outside of the post.
29' SHORT OF GOALS
That early Joe Cole goal was only West Ham's 16th in the last 19 league games, including today. Only four times this season have they managed more than one goal in a game.
26' NOT FAR AWAY
Carlton Cole meets a left-wing corner with a back header which does not clear the bar by much. He did well to even get in an effort there, showing great strength to hold Olsson at bay.
24' LUNGING TACKLE
Mulumbu's lunge fells Noble and he can count himself lucky not to collect the first yellow card of the day. Mr Dean is in a benevolent mood today.
23' BACK IN ACTION
It was only a stinger for McAuley. The physio has done his job and the big central defender rejoins the action.
21' KNEE INJURY
Gareth McAuley looks in real pain after getting a kick on the left knee from Carlton Cole.
19' ASKING QUESTIONS
West Brom look set to threaten, but again the ball just won't drop kindly in the opposition area and a backheel from Morrison fails to find Berahino.
18' POOR EFFORT AGAIN
O'Brien meets a Jarvis left-wing corner with a looping header which is nothing more than catching practice for Foster.
16' LIVELY START
It's been a bright start from both teams here. We always thought goals would be at a premium today, but this has the makings of an open, entertaining match.
13' SHOTS BLOCKED
The Hammers break quickly and Nolan and Carlton Cole both see shots blocked.
12' TAME HEADER
Billy Jones wins West Brom their first corner. Olsson meets the ball with a header from beyond the far post, but that was tame and easy for Jaaskelainen.
11' WEST HAM SUBSTITUTION
It looks like a groin injury for Tomkins. He goes off gingerly, with Guy Demel taking his place.
9' IN NEED OF TREATMENT
James Tomkins is down with an injury and needs treatment.
8' BREAKING THE MOULD
That's only the fourth goal West Ham have scored in the first half of Premier League matches this season.
5' GOAL DETAILS
It stemmed from a long ball up to Carlton Cole. He flicked it on, Joe Cole swapped passes with Nolan and then buried a shot past Foster. Great start for West Ham.
4' BAGGIES GO CLOSE
Brunt shoots into the side-netting after a cross from the right by Morrison. That all stemmed from Berahino robbing Noble in the West Ham half of the pitch.
4' GOAL: WEST HAM 1 WEST BROM 0
Joe Cole gives West Ham the lead.
3' HOW WEST BROM LINE UP
West Brom are deploying three big centre-backs in Gareth McAuley, Jonas Olsson and Diego Lugano. West Ham's lone frontman Carlton Cole has his work cut out today.
2' CHANGE AT THE BACK
That injury to Collins has forced West Ham to reshuffle their defence. McCartney has moved over into the centre from his normal position at full-back, and Rat slots in at left-back.
1' HERE WE GO
West Brom kick off, attacking the goal to our right.

0' TEAM NEWS

0' PREVIEW
West Ham take on West Bromwich Albion in today's early kick-off in the Premier League with the outcome likely to have huge significance for the managerial future of Sam Allardyce. After facing the Baggies the beleaguered West Ham boss and his charges face an equally crucial trip west across London to face Fulham on New Year's Day. Are we overhyping the significance of these matches? No, not even according to Allardyce himself, who said in the build-up to this match: “West Brom is becoming a must win, without being over-anxious or over-adventurous.” The fans will be over-anxious, that's for sure, but over-adventurous is never a word you would use to describe West Ham under Big Sam. Even so, there was enough in their performance against Arsenal on Boxing Day to suggest that their battle for survival is not a hopeless one. What they must do, though, if they want to remain in this division, is start converting more of the good chances they are creating. West Brom have been slipping down the table alarmingly as well in recent weeks, but the Midlanders are treading water until they name a full-time successor to head coach Steve Clarke, who was axed on Dec. 14. Negotiations were ended with former Real Betis boss Pepe Mel on Friday night, so sacked Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay is the new favourite to take over at The Hawthorns. Today's game kicks off at 1245GMT, so join us around 30 minutes beforehand when we should have the confirmed team news, which will be followed by a match commentary.
0' PLAYERS TO WATCH
A few eyebrows were raised when West Ham signed Carlton Cole for a second time in October, only months after releasing him. But such was their shortage of striking talent with Andy Carroll on the long-term injury list that rather than representing a gamble, Sam Allardyce did not really have a great deal to lose. Cole made a slow start second time around, but he has started to find his feet again and has netted three times in his last five games, including against Manchester United and Arsenal in the past week. He's hardly a prolific marksman in the mould of a Luis Suarez or Sergio Aguero, but were he to net a winning goal in a game of this magnitude, it would arguably represent one of the most important of his West Ham career, so desperate is the Hammers' plight at present.
0' HEAD TO HEAD
West Brom have the better head-to-head record in league meetings between the sides with 33 wins to 31 by West Ham and 14 games being drawn. At the Boleyn Ground, West Ham have 21 wins to 12 by West Brom, with a further six meetings ending up all square. The corresponding match last season on Mar. 30 saw West Ham win 3-1 thanks to two goals from Andy Carroll (16 and 80 mins) and one from Gary O'Neil (28). West Brom netted a late consolation through a Graham Dorrans penalty, but also had Youssouf Mulumbu sent off in stoppage time. That Hammers victory ended a run of four successive draws between the sides. West Brom have one success in the Premier League on this ground, it came on Sep. 11, 2002, courtesy of a lone strike from Jason Roberts.
0' FORM GUIDE
West Ham start the day in 19th place with 14 points from 18 games, three fewer than West Brom, who are in 15th. West Ham have collected just a single point from their last five matches and the 3-0 win over Fulham on Nov. 30 is their only success in the last 11 outings. The Baggies began November with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, but since then have failed to win in eight, drawing four and losing four. Their lone away win came at Manchester United back in September, but they did gain a creditable 1-1 draw at Tottenham on Boxing Day.
0' EARLY TEAM NEWS
James Collins is unlikely to feature for West Ham after limping off against Arsenal on Boxing Day with a calf injury. Ravel Morrison is doubtful with the groin problem that forced him to miss that match and Andy Carroll, Ricardo Vaz Te, Stewart Downing and Winston Reid are all definitely out. West Brom strikers Shane Long (calf) and Victor Anichebe (groin) will both have fitness tests before kick-off.
0' MAN IN THE MIDDLE
Taking charge of today's game is Mike Dean, who has been a FIFA official since 2002. The Cheshire-based referee has shown 45 yellow cards in his 12 matches to date this season. He has also dismissed two players: Chelsea striker Fernando Torres in the London derby at Tottenham and Swansea's Michel Vorm in the defeat at Cardiff. His only previous engagement this season featuring either of these teams came at the start of September when he brandished seven yellow cards in West Brom's home defeat by Swansea. Dean's assistants today are Jake Collin and John Brooks, while Kevin Friend is the fourth official.
