Analysis: Though New York cut Tim Tebow on Monday, the Jets still have David Garrard, Greg McElroy, Matt Simms and second-round pick Geno Smith to compete with Sanchez for the job. Sanchez said there's "a little fire" inside him though as his role as starter is in serious doubt for the first time since he was a rookie.
Apr. 19 4:17 PM PT5:17 PM MT6:17 PM CT7:17 PM ET23:17 GMT7:17 AM 北京时间4:17 PM MST6:17 PM EST6:17 PM CT3:17 UAE (+1)19:17 ET22:17 - Sanchez suggests the media frenzy that accompanied Tim Tebow's presence with the New York Jets was partly fueled by the team itself.
Analysis: Sanchez says the distractions could have been avoided, "but he's a popular guy and people gravitate toward the guy."
Mar. 19 8:54 PM PT9:54 PM MT10:54 PM CT11:54 PM ET3:54 GMT11:54 AM 北京时间8:54 PM MST10:54 PM EST9:54 PM CT7:54 UAE (+1)23:54 ET2:54 - Rex Ryan says Mark Sanchez will be the New York Jets' starting quarterback for "the first snap" in minicamp, but insists there will be an open competition at the position.
Analysis: The Jets coach says at the NFL meetings Tuesday that the team needs "to get better" at the position." Sanchez struggled mightily last year, and was benched in favor of third-stringer Greg McElroy for a game. New York brought in veteran David Garrard to compete with Sanchez for the job, and anything is possible with Ryan at the helm of this circus.
Feb. 19 10:44 AM PT11:44 AM MT12:44 PM CT1:44 PM ET18:44 GMT2:44 AM 北京时间11:44 AM MST1:44 PM EST12:44 PM CT22:44 UAE13:44 ET17:44 - The Jets are hamstrung by the contract of Sanchez, who is coming off a miserable season but is guaranteed $8.25 million next season. He would cost the Jets a $17.1 million cap hit if they cut him.
Analysis: Sanchez will almost certainly be back, unless the Jets can trade him. If Sanchez returns, he will likely have to compete for the starting job, and the Jets will be in the market for a quarterback in free agency or the draft.
