Analysis: The Bills paved the way for Williams' departure by placing him on waived-injured two weeks ago. After going unclaimed, Williams had to recover from a calf injury before the Bills were allowed to cut him. The decision means the Bills won't have to pay the final four years of his contract, including the $5.2 million base salary he's due to next season.

Analysis: The team provided the clarification on Wednesday, a day after Williams was not claimed off the waived-injured list. Once Williams is released, the Bills won't have to pay the final four years of his contract. The fifth-year player was due to make a $5.2 million base salary next season. He was inactive in four of Buffalo's past eight games and has eight catches for 142 yards and a touchdown this season.

Analysis: The fifth-year player has had limited playing time when healthy this season. Williams has been inactive in three of Buffalo's past seven games. He's not had a catch since an 8-yard reception in a 17-14 win at Detroit on Oct. 5. On Thursday, Williams said he's "confused" by his lack of playing time but remains confident he can be a difference-maker.

|Oct. 15 1:21 PM PT2:21 PM MT3:21 PM CT4:21 PM ET20:21 GMT4:21 AM 北京时间1:21 PM MST3:21 PM EST3:21 PM CT0:21 UAE (+1)16:21 ET19:21 - Williams is still not at all happy about being benched last weekend. That doesn't mean he wants out of Buffalo. The wide receiver took matters into his own hands by saying, "I'm the boss and I want to be here," in ordering his agent Hadley Engelhard to stop seeking trade offers. At the same time, Williams defended Engelhard for opening discussions by saying the agent was merely doing his job.
Analysis: The comments were Williams' first since general manager Doug Whaley revealed on Monday the Bills granted Engelhard permission to seek a trade. It happened a day after the fifth-year player was inactive for the first time this season in a 37-22 loss to New England. It's unclear whether Williams will play Sunday, when Buffalo (3-3) hosts Minnesota (2-4).

Analysis: Williams was inactive for Sunday's 37-22 loss to the New England Patriots. Williams started the Bills' first four games, but coach Doug Marrone said Sunday's game plan called for the Bills to activate a third tight end in place of one of the team's wide receivers.

The trade comes a little over a week after Williams ran into off-field trouble. He was allegedly stabbed in the leg by his brother, Eric Baylor, who has since turned himself in to police.

Analysis: According to the Times, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office issued an arrest warrant Sunday night for 23-year-old Eric Baylor on a charge of aggravated battery/domestic violence after deputies were called to Williams' home in the Avila community north of Tampa. The Buccaneers released a statement saying team officials were aware of the situation and were working with Williams and the authorities to get additional information. Williams signed a $40 million, six-year deal with the team last year. He caught 22 passes for 216 yards last season.
