Analysis: Luck's treatment and rehab of his surgically shoulder apparently is going well, sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen. When he resumes throwing in the near future, those throws will be determined whether he needs corrective surgery in January to address the setbacks that unexpectedly sidelined him for the 2017 season, according to the report.

Pagano made the announcement Monday. He says the Colts have been in touch with Luck through email and text messages.
Analysis: Luck has not played since having surgery in January on his throwing shoulder after playing the entire 2016 season with a partially torn labrum. It looked like Luck might return after returning to practice in October. But when the pain lingered, Luck sought additional opinions and eventually Indianapolis put him on season-ending injured reserve in November. At the time, general manager Chris Ballard said he did not believe Luck will need additional surgery.

Analysis: Luck will finally take his first reps since undergoing surgery in January to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder, though Ballard cautioned that the franchise quarterback's return to game action still isn't imminent. "We've got a plan in place to where we want him to start getting him reps and then, in time as we can get him incorporated back into team work and all that, we'll get him back on the field," he said. Luck could be back at some point this month.

Coach Chuck Pagano maintains there is still a chance for Luck to play for the Colts Week 1, Irsay sounded as if the Colts would keep the bridle on Luck in the name of protecting their franchise quarterback. Irsay said there have been no physical setbacks for Luck, who initially followed medical advice to rehab his shoulder injury.
