Analysis: Foles, released last week by the Los Angeles Rams at his own request, reportedly chose the Chiefs over the Dallas Cowboys and the Minnesota Vikings. The Cowboys were in the market for a backup quarterback after Kellen Moore sustained a serious leg injury Tuesday. In Kansas City, Foles will be reunited with Andy Reid, who was his coach when the quarterback arrived in the NFL in 2012 with the Philadelphia Eagles. Foles will back up Alex Smith.

Analysis: Foles' one season with the Rams was an abject failure, as the team ranked last in the NFL in passing offense and he lost his starting job to Case Keenum. He became further expendable when Los Angeles traded up to take Cal quarterback Jared Goff with the No. 1 overall pick of this year's draft, and skipped all offseason workouts as the club unsuccessfully tried to deal him. He should still draw interest from teams seeking experienced depth.
