Vinatieri accomplished the feat with a 31-yard field goal with 4:19 left in the first quarter Sunday night against his former team, New England.
Analysis: The only other players to top 2,100 points are Morten Andersen, Gary Anderson and Jason Hanson. Vinatieri now has 2,101 points. At age 41, Vinatieri is looking as good as ever. He has made all 27 field-goal attempts and all 32 extra-point attempts this season. He needs five more points to become the first NFL player with 17 career 100-point seasons. He and Jason Elam are tied at 16.

Terms of the deal were not immediately available.
Analysis: Vinatieri is widely considered the best clutch kicker in league history. He made two Super Bowl-winning kicks with New England and owns four Super Bowl rings. Last season, as the oldest player in the league, he finished with the second-highest point total of his career (139), made 35 of 40 field goals and became the seventh player in league history to top 2,000 career points. He turns 42 in December.
