Analysis: This is not surprising considering he played there before and there is an opening for backup quarterback in New England.
Oct. 15, 2017 1:53 PM PT2:53 PM MT3:53 PM CT4:53 PM ET20:53 GMT4:53 1:53 PM MST3:53 PM EST3:53 PM CT0:53 UAE (+1)16:53 ETNaN: - Brian Hoyer was 4 of 11 for 34 yards and didn't throw a touchdown pass Sunday in the San Francisco 49ers' 26-24 loss to the Washington Redskins. He did not throw an interception, didn't fumble and was sacked one time.
Analysis: Hoyer was replaced by rookie C.J. Beathard, and that may spell the end of his brief tenure as the 49ers' starting QB.
Oct. 8, 2017 7:28 PM PT8:28 PM MT9:28 PM CT10:28 PM ET2:28 GMT10:28 7:28 PM MST9:28 PM EST9:28 PM CT6:28 UAE (+1)22:28 ETNaN: - Brian Hoyer was 29 of 46 for 353 yards and threw two touchdown passes Sunday in the San Francisco 49ers' 26-23 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He did not throw an interception, didn't fumble and was sacked two times.
Analysis: After receiving a vote of confidence from coach Kyle Shanahan during the week, Hoyer went out and played his best game of the season while nearly leading the 49ers to their first win with a pair of fourth-quarter touchdown passes. The journeyman quarterback had just two TD passes through his first four games. Though still not an appealing fantasy option, his grasp on the starting job still appears relatively safe.
Oct. 1, 2017 5:18 PM PT6:18 PM MT7:18 PM CT8:18 PM ET0:18 GMT8:18 5:18 PM MST7:18 PM EST7:18 PM CT4:18 UAE (+1)20:18 ETNaN: - Brian Hoyer was 24 of 49 for 234 yards and didn't throw a touchdown pass Sunday in the San Francisco 49ers' 18-15 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. He threw one interception, didn't fumble and was sacked three times. Hoyer added three rushing yards on one carry.
Analysis: It's hard to draw any positives out of Hoyer's performance this season. He's completing just 58.1 percent of his passes with only two touchdowns and four interceptions. Hoyer hardly went downfield against Arizona with 4.78 yards per attempt. Hoyer's job seems safe for now, but with the season slowly slipping away, a change could eventually be in order.
Sep. 21, 2017 8:54 PM PT9:54 PM MT10:54 PM CT11:54 PM ET3:54 GMT11:54 8:54 PM MST10:54 PM EST10:54 PM CT7:54 UAE (+1)23:54 ETNaN: - Brian Hoyer was 23 of 37 for 332 yards and threw two touchdown passes Thursday in the San Francisco 49ers' 41-39 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He threw one interception, didn't fumble and was sacked four times. Hoyer added nine rushing yards on one carry and scored one touchdown on the ground.
Analysis: Hoyer threw an awful interception on his first pass that set up a Rams' touchdown 12 seconds in, but bounced back with a much better performance than either of his first two games. The journeyman still isn't a highly appealing fantasy starter, especially considering the 49ers own one of the league's worst receiving corps.
Sep. 17, 2017 4:57 PM PT5:57 PM MT6:57 PM CT7:57 PM ET23:57 GMT7:57 4:57 PM MST6:57 PM EST6:57 PM CT3:57 UAE (+1)19:57 ETNaN: - Brian Hoyer was 15 of 27 for 99 yards and didn't throw a touchdown pass Sunday in the San Francisco 49ers' 12-9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He threw one interception, didn't fumble and was sacked two times.
Sep. 10, 2017 6:05 PM PT7:05 PM MT8:05 PM CT9:05 PM ET1:05 GMT9:05 6:05 PM MST8:05 PM EST8:05 PM CT5:05 UAE (+1)21:05 ETNaN: - Hoyer went 24 of 35 for 193 yards with one interception, one fumble lost and was sacked four times Sunday in a season-opening loss to Carolina.
Analysis: Hoyer had some decent moments in this one and his pass to Marquise Goodwin should have a been a long gain in the first half, but Goodwin dropped it. Hoyer likely won't find much success next week in Seattle.
Aug. 12, 2017 11:24 AM PT12:24 PM MT1:24 PM CT2:24 PM ET18:24 GMT2:24 11:24 AM MST1:24 PM EST1:24 PM CT22:24 UAE14:24 ETNaN: - The 49ers' first-team offense struggled behind starting quarterback Brian Hoyer in Friday's preseason opener, mustering just 3 yards in two drives. Hoyer finished 1-of-4 passing for 3 yards.
Analysis: Hoyer failed to make new 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan feel good about giving the longtime NFL journeyman the starting job early in training camp. Matt Barkley was next in line and performed well as he led San Francisco to two field goals in roughly two quarters while finishing 10 of 17 for 168 yards without any major mistakes. "You worry about what you can control," Hoyer said. "Go back and watch the film and make the corrections."
Mar. 8, 2017 2:10 PM PT3:10 PM MT4:10 PM CT5:10 PM ET22:10 GMT6:10 3:10 PM MST5:10 PM EST4:10 PM CT2:10 UAE (+1)17:10 ETNaN: - Hoyer agreed Wednesday to a two-year deal with the 49ers, reuniting with new Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Analysis: Hoyer resisted what was classified by NFL Network as a "very strong offer" from the Jets, and he also reportedly had talks with the Bills. Hoyer and Shanahan worked together in 2014 with the Browns. Shanahan was the offensive coordinator as Hoyer made 13 starts, going 7-6. Hoyer agreed to a deal for around $6 million per season with the understanding that he will get a chance to start, according to ESPN.
