Agent Joel Bell tells The Associated Press that Cunningham wants to clear his name after authorities dismissed a felony assault charge against Cunningham on Monday. The woman accused Cunningham of choking her in April.
Analysis: After a four-month investigation, the Hennepin County prosecutor announced that the charge was dismissed because "there was not proof beyond a reasonable doubt for the charged offense." Cunningham had to put his search for a new contract on hold while the investigation was conducted. Now he says he is eager move on and sign a deal, perhaps with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the team he has played for the last two seasons.

Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman issued a statement on Monday saying that "based on further investigation, there is not proof beyond a reasonable doubt for the charged offense."
Analysis: Cunningham was charged in April after he was accused of choking his then-girlfriend at their suburban Minneapolis home. The Timberwolves abided by NBA rules and continued to play him in games the rest of the season, and Cunningham routinely heard boos and heckles from the crowd about the allegations. Cunningham spent the previous two seasons with the Timberwolves and carved a niche as a hard-nosed defensive forward with a solid mid-range jumper.
