The 30-year-old Dudley had a herniated disk repaired on Tuesday, less than two weeks after he was acquired in a trade with Milwaukee. The Wizards say he will begin a rehab program immediately.
Analysis: Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld says the team talked to Dudley and his agent, and "were made aware that he played with pain for a significant part of last season due to this injury." Dudley averaged 7.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 72 games with Milwaukee last season. He missed four games with lower back soreness. Washington obtained Dudley on July 9 in exchange for a protected future second-round pick.

A person with direct knowledge of the decision tells The Associated Press that the veteran forward exercised his player option for $4.25 million on Tuesday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the move has not been officially announced. Dudley had until the end of the day on Tuesday to exercise his option or become a free agent.
Analysis: Dudley averaged 7.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and shot 38.5 percent from 3-point range in 72 games for the Bucks last season. He gives them a veteran presence off the bench, and one of the few who can reliably hit 3-pointers.

A person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the seven-year veteran has been dealt to Milwaukee by the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for forward Carlos Delfino and backup center Miroslav Raduljica. The Clippers are also receiving a future first-round pick.
Analysis: Dudley averaged 6.9 points last year in his only season with the Clippers. Delfino signed as a free agent last year with Milwaukee but never played a game because of a foot injury. The 7-foot-1 Raduljica averaged 3.8 points in 2013-14.
